About A • SUN
Born in New York, started his musical journey playing drums. Soon moved to classical violin, playing solo and in orchestras.
Was bitten by the sounds of Led Zeppelin and picked up guitar, forming bands and writing music. Realizing that this was his ultimate calling, he applied and was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he learned jazz and classical theory, composition, arranging, and performance, as well as vocal ear training, conducting and ensemble.
He worked in various projects and bands, writing and recording solo material and performing with groups, such as seminal industrial electronic band Manufacture.
From there, A.SUN moved to New York City and began writing material and developing his sonic character on guitar, utilizing effects and all of his previous experience to achieve a cosmic, multilayered sound that left its mark in every project he was a part of.
Many live performances, tours and recordings were produced w/ New World Vision, Penny Dreadful, as well as Kory Clarke of Warrior Soul, Superfix w/Desmond Horn of King of Kings, Ten Wings and Sharon Middendorf and solo projects S.S.O., and Rainwave.
Next was a move out of N.Y.C. to Woodstock for more writing, recording and honing his craft, which led to an invite to Los Angeles and ensuing move west, in 1996. More writing followed and a new project developed w/ Kory Clarke and Desmond Horn. At the same time, A.SUN met and became close with Daniel Chavez of Moontribe and soon became connected with this collective of artists and musicians, eventually assisting in producing, planning, doing sound for and dj-ing at these renowned southern California desert events and evolving sonically with the new inspiration these events provided.
It was here and on a dj (Parallet Universe tour’97) tour of U.S.A., new electronic directions in music provided fuel and inspired A.SUN to dj and then begin writing electronic based grooves and music. He recognized a sonic direction, inspired by a few of the Moontribe djs, such as dj Treavor and Brad, as well as his own deep soul searching spirit quest to find eclectic, rhythmic, multilayered, cosmic, dimensional sounds to share with dance audiences, around L.A.
A.SUN developed a following and found that there were many ears out in the crowds, receptive to his style of sonic expression…those who found it to be unique. He soon began producing his own events in and around L.A. and was asked to do a weekly in Hollywood. That weekly became Space Station 3, in 2004 and is still going strong at almost 6 years. Simultaneously, A.SUN is producing his own music and creating an original new direction for all to seize now.
